God gives us peace in the midst of trouble. Jesus said “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NIV). There is something to be said about how God gives us peace. It feels magical sometimes. One moment we are worrying and afraid about many things. In the next moment, we are praying about these things and holding on to the promises of God. Then God floods us with His peace. It can all happen in a matter of minutes. When we lay our worries down in front of the throne of God and leave them there, we are free to receive God’s peace.
Peace is the opposite of fear. Fear and peace do not dwell in the same space. The spirit of fear is from Satan, and peace comes from the Holy Spirit. The closer I get to God, the more peace I experience and the less I give in to the spirit of fear. It is wonderful to know that God has you in the palm of His hand and that He is not going to let you go. I need you to know, trouble, that when we are in trouble, we can receive all that God’s Word promises to give us: a refuge, His presence, deliverance, power, patience, perseverance, friends, family, angels, and peace. Please remember, trouble: anytime you go up against God and His people, you will not win.
