Dear 5th grade me,
You are valuable. I know that you and everyone around you calls you poor, but God told me to tell you that you are valuable. God says in Matthew 6:26 NIV “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” The dictionary defines “valuable” as worth a lot of money; very useful or helpful; and important/limited in amount. This is how God sees you. Your value is not determined by how much money your family has or how many possessions you own. Your value is also not determined by what you don’t have. God is saying in this verse that you are His child, and He is going to take care of you. Don’t be discouraged when you see others who have more money/possessions than you. Please know that you cannot take any money or possessions with you when you die. The only thing that you can take with you is your soul/spirit which are eternal. This is not your home, and where you’re going is better than where you are right now. God is going to help you rise above your current circumstances. He is going to bless your family and you financially. You can trust Him to give you all that you need.
